Call for a better climate policy

According to an statement by the organisers, the Climate Strike in Zug was deliberately held over the lunchtime so that students could easily attend. As a result, many working people joined in the demonstration along the lake promenade and into the old town. "The Climate Movement (Klimabewegung) Zug has shown today that it will not run out of steam for a long time", stated climate activist and high school student Julia Küng in the media release.

Within a short period, the Climate Strike Movement Switzerland has motivated tens of thousands of people to campaign for a better climate policy. And the demands of the climate movement have also been heard by Zug politicians, continues the statement. A postulate for the declaration of a climate emergency was successfully handed over on Wednesday 23rd May.

Ronahi Yener, one of the Climate strike organisers, was also quoted as follows in the statement: “A change is now guaranteed. We are now at the point where we can decisively influence what this will look like.”
