Following a single-vehicle accident on Saturday morning, the vehicle burned out completely. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
A 32-year-old motorist was driving on the Aegeristrasse from Zug in the direction of the Lorzentobel bridge on Saturday morning at around 9.50 a.m. After passing the Allenwinden junction, he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons and crashed into a street lamp on the right side of the road. The vehicle immediately caught fire, and subsequently burned out completely, but the driver fortunately managed to escape from the burning car unharmed. The breath alcohol test that was carried out on him was positive, with a value of 0.46 mg/l. The vehicle suffered property damage of around CHF 50,000.
The cantonal road between Moosrank and the Lorzentobel bridge had to be closed in both directions during the extinguishing work and the vehicle recovery. A diversion via Allenwinden was set up.
Around 20 members of the Baar fire brigade were deployed to fight the fire. In addition, employees of the Wasserwerke Zug, the Office for Forest and Game, the road maintenance service, a private towing company and the Zug police were on duty.
The person responsible for the accident will now have to answer to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug.
