Bakery in Zug closed for good
Changes have been frequent in the area of the Bahnhofstrasse and the Poststrasse in recent years.
Last Friday (22nd November 2024), the Bäckerei Bossard (Bossard bakery) on the Poststrasse closed its doors for good. Customers were thereby referred to the bakery in the Neustadt Centre. According to a notice, the bakery branch had been open for more than 30 years.
The letter to customers cites ‘the interminably long renovation of the Poststrasse’ as the reason. According to the letter, this construction work forced customers to ‘constantly take new routes to get to the bakery’. A situation that other shops in the town have also complained about.

Translation of the notice:
Dear customers
After more than 33 years, we will be merging this outlet with the Neustadt outlet. This means that we will have our last day of sales here on 22nd November. After more than 30 successful years, there has been an interminably long redevelopment of the Poststrasse. Our shop was blocked for a very long time and you, dear customers, had to constantly take new routes to get to us. Unfortunately, many customers then developed new habits and visited us in Neustadt, or not at all. The (downwards) spiral began to turn. Fewer customers meant less choice in the range, and so on.
After the interminably long construction site, we tried for a long time to restore the old situation. Unfortunately, not with the success we would have liked. We would like to thank you, dear customers. It would not have been possible without you. We now hope that you will continue to visit us in our Neustadt branch, and we wish you a peaceful Advent season and happy holidays.
Customer cards will, of course, remain valid in all (our) other shops.
