Baar Organ Night on Friday, 5th September

Organist Heyon Ko will be at the centre of the 8th Baar Organ Night (Baarer Orgelnacht).

The principal organist of the parish of Baar is an internationally acclaimed musician, and was the winner of the Culture Prize of the Canton of Lucerne, as stated by the organisers of the Baar Organ Night in a recent press release.

Raised in South Korea and influenced by her studies in Germany, Heyon Ko now brings her artistic experience and passion to Lucerne and Baar, where she has been enriching the musical scene for a year.

Heyon Ko understands how to bring the organ to life in all its facets, from classical repertoire to improvised dialogues with saxophone, choir, dance or silent film. Her goal is to bring people closer to the diversity and expressiveness of this instrument. With her open approach to programming, she breaks down boundaries and shows that the organ is much more than a church instrument – ‘it becomes the centrepiece in interaction with other arts’.

For Heyon Ko, this is also a personal joy, as she herself says: music becomes a bridge between cultures, generations and forms of expression. The fact that she has invited renowned musicians and ensembles such as Wolfgang Sieber, Eberhard Rex and the Luzerner Kantorei underlines her commitment to creating encounters of the highest standard.

The parish of St. Martin is proud of an artist who combines tradition and innovation and inspires new enthusiasm for the organ among audiences.

The 8th Baar Organ Night in the parish church of St. Martin will take place from 6.15 pm on Friday,  5 September.
Admission is free, with a voluntary collection.
