Attempted purse theft in early morning

An unknown man tried to snatch the purse from a woman In the early morning. The victim was slightly injured, and the police are looking for witnesses.

On Wednesday morning, 11 December, an emergency call came in to the dispatch centre of the Zug police: An unknown man had tried to grab a lady's shoulder bag on the Bachweg, in the immediate vicinity of the "Leue Märt” shopping centre just after 6 am. He did not succeed, however, according to a statement by the Zug law enforcement authorities. Instead of the handbag, however, he stole a white plastic bag containing a pair of black Nike sneakers and a Chicorée black fibre-fur jacket. The man then fled towards the lake. The 25-year-old woman fell to the ground in the scramble and injured herself slightly.

Description of the unknown: The alleged perpetrator is male, between 165 and 170 centimetres tall, with a dark complexion and slim stature. At the time of the crime he was wearing black clothes and black gloves. He had also covered his face with a black scarf.

The Zug police asks local people for help. Anyone who observed anything suspicious in the Bachweg / Leue Märt shopping centre this morning, or has seen a man meeting the description is asked to call the Zug police (phone 041 728 41 41). At the time of the incident, an elderly man was said to have been close by, and observed the crime. He is also asked to report to the police.
