Alarm at the Oekihof

A container caught fire at the Oekihof waste disposal area in the city of Zug. The smouldering fire was extinguished by the Volunteer Fire Brigade of the City of Zug (FFZ).

On Friday morning, 11 September, shortly after 8 a.m., the operations centre of the Zug Police received a report that a disposal container filled with cardboard was on fire on the Äussere Güterstrasse. According to the corresponding press release by Frank Kleiner, media spokesman for the Zug law enforcement authorities, municipal employees had already moved transported the container from its original location into the open air by the time the first emergency services arrived.

The fire was then quickly extinguished by the Volunteer Fire Brigade of the City of Zug (FFZ) using the tank extinguisher vehicle. The contents of the container were unloaded in order to deal with the remaining embers. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

There was only minor material damage in the form of discoloration of the container, and no one was injured. Ten members of the volunteer fire brigade of the city of Zug and employees of the Zug police were on duty.
