Accidents on the A4 at the weekend
A number of accidents, a vehicle fire and two drivers unable to drive kept the police and fire brigade busy over the weekend.
There were several dangerous situations on the roads in the canton of Zug last weekend.
At around 11:45 am on Saturday morning, a woman driving towards Zurich on the A4 motorway failed to notice the car in front of her braking in heavy traffic, and crashed violently into the rear of the car. A 12-year-old girl was thereby injured and had to be taken to hospital. Both cars were no longer roadworthy. The accident caused a long traffic jam back to the motorway junction at the ‘Blegi curve’. The police partially diverted traffic onto the hard shoulder. It took around an hour to record the accident, after which the traffic was able to flow normally again.
Just one hour later, a car caught fire while driving between Lindencham and the Blegi junction. Thanks to the quick action of other drivers, who warned the driver and intervened with a fire extinguisher, the incident resulted in no injuries. The fire brigade was alerted and was able to completely cool down the vehicle.
