Accidents on the A4 and A14 motorways on Wednesday
Two traffic accidents occurred on two different sections of motorway in canton Zug on Wednesday. Two people were injured and had to be taken to hospital. One of the accidents led to a long traffic jam.
The first accident occurred at the entrance to the A4 motorway near Lindencham at 12.30 pm on Wednesday. According to the Zug Police, a 20-year-old woman driver lost control of her car for reasons not yet known: her car swerved, crossed all the lanes and finally crashed head-on into the centre crash barrier.
According to the police report on Thursday, nobody was injured in this accident, but the damage to the vehicle and the crash barrier amounted to several thousand Swiss francs. The cause of the accident is now the subject of further investigations.

Long traffic jam in afternoon traffic and extensive property damage
Just over two hours later, there was another crash: a rear-end collision involving two cars on the A14 motorway in the direction of Lucerne shortly before 2.45 pm. The 35-year-old woman who caused the accident sustained minor injuries, while the 56-year-old driver of the second car sustained serious injuries, according to the police press release. Both people were taken to hospital by the Zug ambulance service.
The damage to the two vehicles and the central crash barrier, which was also damaged, totalled several tens of thousands of Swiss francs. Traffic had to be diverted past the scene of the accident in one lane via the emergency lane to allow recovery of the injured persons and the vehicles, the recording of the details of the accident and the cleaning of the carriageway. This led to a long traffic jam in the direction of Lucerne.
