Accident in the middle of the night

A single-vehicle accident occurred on the A4 motorway in the early morning of Monday,. A passenger awoke from a dream and grabbed the driver's steering wheel.

The accident occurred at 3:00 a.m. in the early morning of Monday (27 June 2022) on the A4 motorway in the direction of Lucerne, between the Lindencham and Rütihof junctions. A 36-year-old woman was driving on the normal lane when her 41-year-old sleeping male passenger suddenly awoke from a dream and grabbed the steering wheel. The car swerved into the overtaking lane and crashed into the central guardrail. Both the driver and the passenger were slightly injured in the accident. The two-year-old child in the back seat was uninjured. The Zug Ambulance Service transported all the vehicle occupants to the hospital for further checks.

As a result of the collision, the central  guardrail was pushed into the oncoming lane, and had to be repaired by Zentras employees. The property damage to the vehicle and the guard rail amounted to more than CHF 20,000. The car had to be transported away by a recovery company.

Employees of the Zug rescue service, the Zentras national road operating company, a private towing company and the Zug Police were on duty.
