A spring awakening in autumn at the Kunstkiosk

The artist Liane Janissen is currently exhibiting small-format objects at the Kunstkiosk Baar.

The colourfully impressive objects made of artificial boxwood panels contrasted conspicuously with the gloomy atmosphere in the rain-soaked Fellmann-Park in the centre of Baar on Friday evening. Due to Corona, and probably also because of the wet and cold weather, there were only a few visitors to the vernissage and there was also no laudatio. Liane Janissen is a versatile artist who has become established in the art scene and has been a guest in renowned galleries in several European countries. As long as twenty years ago, she was able to sell a first object from "Frühlingserwachen” (Spring Awakening) in the size of one square metre to a baron, said the artist. The exhibits symbolize flowering spring meadows, and stand as a metaphor for the eruption and the power of awakening nature. They vary in size, and, depending on requirements, several panels can be combined into one large work.

Different ways of working
"For me, painting the boxwood panels is like meditation," says Janissen about this work. Her main work is abstract, and mostly consists of large-format landscapes in acrylic or airbrushing, which require completely different ways of working. In contrast to concrete paintings, the untitled canvases are a far-reaching dissolution of the graphic in favour of colour and structure. Only one copy of this is displayed in the current exhibition in the Kunstkubus (Art Cube) in Baar.

Liane Janissen is exhibiting in the canton of Zug for the first time.

And the corner with the slightly ironic headline "Grüessli aus der heilen Welt” (Greetings from the ideal world) presents itself quite differently. This is a reference to the get-up-and go spirit of the post-war generation. These are photos from that period that Janissen found in flea markets, as she explained, and which inspired her to a very special workmanship. She has fixed the old photos into round glass plates that are also antique, and surrounded them with colourful, glittering glass beads. In addition to nostalgia, this also gives the exhibits a light-hearted touch.

The exhibition will be open next Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the Finissage will be on Saturday, 7th November, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The artist will then be present, and is available to answer questions from visitors. This will be the last exhibition at the Kunstkiosk this year.
