92-year-old woman fatally injured following collision with lorry as she crosses city street

It is sad to have to report that a 92-year old woman pedestrian was fatally injured by a lorry as she made her way over a crossing in the city last Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 1.45 pm as the woman made use of the crossing between Bundesplatz and  Neustadtpassage below the SBB viaduct there (photograph).

So shocked was the 58-year-old lorry driver by the incident that members of the Zug Care-Team were brought in to tend to him. He was subjected to a blood and urine test, though this is standard procedure in such circumstances.

The incident meant that Baarerstrasse between Bundesplatz and Gotthardstrasse had to be closed for several hours.

The police subsequently issued an appeal to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident to call them without delay.
