60 new rental apartments planned

Loft apartments with 2.5 and 3.5 rooms are to be built on the former Landis & Gyr industrial site in Zug – and the rental prices are also now known.
 

For the first time, residential space is being created on the former Landis & Gyr site (LG site) in Zug.As Welcome Immobilien AG from Emmenbrücke recently announced, they are launching Bricklane Zug, the first residential project on the industrially-characterised site near the railway station. Occupancy of the rental apartments is planned for June 2027.

According to the project website, 60 rental apartments will be built for initial letting. Loft apartments with 2.5 and 3.5 rooms are planned, with the average rent for the 2.5-room apartments being around CHF 3,800, and around CHF 4,500 for the 3.5-room apartments (both including utilities).

Housing for several thousands of people
The LG site is to be transformed into a new urban district in the coming years. The Zug City Council (Stadtrat) has submitted the development plan to the Municipal Council (Grossen Gemeinderat) for its first reading. The plan envisions significant densification with new buildings, extensions, and high-rises of up to approximately 80 metres. Housing for roughly 2,600 to 3,900 people could be ultimately create, and a portion of this housing is intended to be affordable.

Existing amenities, such as the Freiruum community centre, are to be preserved and integrated into the development. The plans also include plazas, green spaces, and railway gardens, all designed to enhance the area and contribute to biodiversity.

The LG site is one of the most important development areas in the city of Zug. For decades, it was dominated by the industrial conglomerate Landis & Gyr, which, among other things, produced electricity meters in Zug. The first factory buildings were constructed on the site in the late 1920s, and the site was subsequently expanded continuously.
