58-year-old injured in car accident

One person injured and three damaged vehicles: this is the result of a rear-end collision on the Morgartenstrasse in Oberägeri.

The accident occurred shortly after 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Zug Police. A 39-year-old driver was travelling towards Morgarten at the time and wanted to turn left at the ‘Breiten’ ZVB stop.

A following van driver noticed that the vehicle was coming to a stop, and also braked, but an 81-year-old female driver behind him was unable to react in time. She crashed heavily into the rear of the van, which was pushed into the car in front by the impact. The woman who caused the accident finally drove past the scene of the accident on the right, and came to a standstill after several metres.

The 58-year-old driver of the van was slightly injured in the accident, and was taken to hospital for a check-up. The other parties involved in the accident were uninjured.

Two of the three vehicles involved were no longer drivable, however, and had to be towed away. The material damage amounts to around CHF 30,000. The 81-year-old woman who caused the accident also had her driving licence confiscated. One lane of the Morgartenstrasse had to be closed at the scene of the accident while the accident was being investigated and the vehicles recovered.
