33-year-old driver sustains serious injuries

A 33-year-old driver was seriously injured after he crashed into the concrete walls of an underpass on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened shortly before 9 am on Küssnachterstrasse in Risch Rotkreuz, where the road passes under the motorway.

For reasons not yet clear, the driver lost control over his vehicle, which went on to crash first into the right-hand wall and then into the one on the left, causing him to sustain serious injuries. He was subsequently taken to hospital, his car a write-off, as can be seen in the photograph.

For some time after the incident, Küssnachterstrasse had to be closed in both directions.
