10 residents of an apartment building evacuated

A fire broke out in a hobby room on Ägeristrasse. Fortunately, no one was injured.

On Friday morning, 19 March 2021, shortly after 8 a.m., the Zug Police Operations Centre received a report that thick smoke was coming from a hobby room on the Ägeristrasse in the city of Zug. The volunteer fire brigade of the city of Zug (FFZ) was alerted. Upon arrival at the scene, the emergency services spotted a fire in a hobby room. According to the press release of the Zug law enforcement authorities, however, the fire was able to be quickly extinguished by a team from the fire brigade, who had to use breathing equipment. The whole premises then had to be cleared of smoke.

10 residents of the property were evacuated as a precaution, but were able to return to their homes a short time later. Fortunately, no one was injured. The on-site investigation revealed that a technical fault with a power distributor had caused the fire. The damage to property amounts to several tens of thousands of Swiss francs.

Around 30 members of the volunteer fire brigade of the city of Zug (FFZ) as well as employees of the fire brigade inspectorate, the Zug Ambulance Service and the Zug police were deployed in this incident.
