Finding relief in a time of worldwide stress

People throughout the world are currently going though a time of increased stress and anxiety as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has now been raging for one and a half years. TV news programmes and newspapers continually provide us with even more alarming stories regarding the epidemic, on top of the other disastrous events in the world, such as Afghanistan and climate change – with flooding and wildfires seeming to occur everywhere, even here in Switzerland. The world around us seems determined to make us afraid and anxious, in some cases resulting in demonstrations to “protect our freedoms”. Although we in Switzerland have not been affected as badly as some other countries, people here are also worried about the future and are disturbed by the changes in our daily lives.

There are indeed times, when the shadow sides of life seem to take over, and the light at the end of the tunnel seems way beyond our reach. Our world has been repeatedly turned upside down, and we find ourselves experiencing stress, fear, and mental and/or physical exhaustion. And this, of course, ultimately takes its toll on our physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Let me reassure you, however, that, no matter how dark and difficult life may seem at any point in time, everything you need to turn your world around again can be found within you. Every person has their inner strength and wisdom – you just need to reconnect with it. And you don’t have to fight your battles alone. Support is sometimes only a phone call away.

Many people find relief by taking all kinds of pills or drugs, but this is not always a healthy way forward, as it suppresses the symptoms without addressing the causes. There are, however, alternative ways to find relief and a feeling of peace, such as yoga or meditation, that do not involve taking chemicals into your body.

I have found hypnotherapy, for example, to be an interesting therapeutic method to help you connect with your inner resources, involving the physical, mental and spiritual level of your being. At the physical level, the harmonisation of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems through deep relaxation creates a powerful foundation for healing and recovery. But the beneficial effects of hypnosis at the mental level, the level of the subconscious mind, are probably best known. Here, hypnosis has a wide range of uncovering techniques that are solution-centred: such as regression (where you return to the exact moment that a problem arose, and can solve it there), visualisation, parts therapy, inner child therapy, and many more. The spiritual level brings us to the realm of the quantum field, where we focus on raising our consciousness and vibration.

Hypnotherapy enables you to explore the inner causes of your worries and fears, even the subconscious ones, and, by exposing their roots, can help you to knowingly overcome and eliminate them.

Harmonising and working with your conscious mind, your subconscious mind and your Soul can provide you with a great healing process. And that’s what hypnosis is – it’s about finding your balance, letting go of stress and getting in touch again with your natural Wonderwoman or superhero qualities.
