Markus Kummer – New staging at the Kunsthaus Zug Schaudepot

In autumn 2026, selected works will be staged there by the artist Markus Kummer.

The Kunsthaus Zug Schaudepot is home to sculptures and installations from the Kunsthaus Zug’s own collection. In autumn 2026, selected works will be staged there by the artist Markus Kummer. He possesses a keen sense of space, material and atmosphere combined with an interest in archaeological practices, objects in collections and the principles of constructing and deconstructing – in other words, with how things can be combined and disassembled, and how new things are created through play. Kummer will thereby reveal surprising perspectives on the holdings of the Kunsthaus Zug, inviting us to come and rediscover what we thought was already familiar. Markus Kummer is a trained brick mason and a civil engineering draughtsman. After completing a Bachelor in interior design and scenography, he studied for a Master of fine arts at the Bern Academy of the Arts HKB. His works combine different materials, thought processes and perspectives to create settings that are poetic and powerful. They have been shown in renowned institutions at home and abroad, including at the Haus für Kunst in Canton Uri, the Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, the Kunsthalle Baselland, and at The Green Box – Kunst Editionen in Berlin. In recognition of his œuvre, Kummer was in 2024 awarded Canton Zug’s highest honour in the field of cultural promotion.
