Two Serbian women deported and Croatian man charged

Two Serbian women have been deported after police raided an establishment in Risch where they had been working illegally in a gambling den.

It was on Thursday 6 September that the police raided the premises where they came across betting computers and gaming terminals not to mention sums of cash. When a 23-year-old Serbian woman was questioned, it was discovered she did not have the appropriate permit despite working as a waitress there.

When another 20-year-old Serbian woman who was planning to work there was questioned, it became clear she was not in possession of the appropriate papers to be in Switzerland at all. Both were summoned to appear before a judge in fast-track proceedings whereupon they were given a conditional fine, ordered to leave the country forthwith and banned from returning to any country signed up to the Schengen Agreement for a period of two years.

The man who ran the joint, a 40-year-old Croatian, is suspected of providing the opportunity to play illegal sport gambling games. He can now expect to face charges for contravening regulations of the Federal Gaming Board and other offences pertaining to the Aliens Act.
