Two private schools to fuse

Starting next school year Institut Montana on the Zugerberg and Institut Dr. Pfister in Oberägeri will liaise. For differenct reasons.
Express:
 • In the long term, i.e. in approximately ten years, the two schools want to fuse.
 • One school representative each takes a seat on the Board of Directors of the other institution.

“The Zugerberg is in a delicate location to build”
Ruedi Staechelin, Institut Montana of enterprise AG

The private school landscape in canton Zug continues to change. Yesterday it was made known that the two schools, Institute Montana on the Zugerberg and Institute Dr. Pfister in Oberägeri will start to work together as from next year.  President of the Board of Directors of the Institute Dr. Pfister, a family enterprise in third generation, is the Zuger CVP National Councilman Gerhard Pfister.

The purpose of the collaboration is to use synergies and exchange experiences. And it is to be intensified in the next years. “The goal is a fusion”, says Pfister. The fusion is to however only happen in approximately ten years. Therefore the two schools remain for the time being independent. However one school representative each takes a seat on the Board of Directors of the other institution. Also the two schools will remain at their current locations until further notice. At a later time however it is foreseen that the location in Oberägeri will be dropped.

In order to be able to accommodate the increase of students on the Zugerberg the Institute Montana is planning to expand. On the one hand the existing school and boarding school buildings are to be renovated and on the other hand plans for new constructions are in the making. There is also talk of constructing a double gym and to renovate the outdoor sport facilities.

Plans do not effect the Day School
Students at the Institute Montana will hardly notice a difference when the schools fuse. The offerings at the Zugerberg will not change. The students at the school in Oberägeri will be able to complete their education.
The fusion plans do not effect the Day School Elementa in Menzingen, a part of the Institute Dr. Pfister AG. “There is already a Day School on the Zugerberg” explains Pfister.
