Two foreign workmen caught with falsified documents

Two workmen have been fined and ordered to leave the county forthwith after it was discovered the documents they were carrying had been falsified.

It was on the evening of Tuesday 6 November that police stopped a car in Walterswil in the municipality of Baar and checked the identity of its four occupants.

As they did so, it became apparent that two of them, one a 25-year-old and the other a 46-year-old, presented falsified documentation indicating they were Italian, whereas they were in fact Albanian nationals. It appears they had a contract of employment and had been working for a number of days already.

The pair were duly arrested and taken to appear before a judge, who, in fast-track proceedings convicted them for various offences in relation to the Aliens Act and the falsification of identity documents.

They were duly given a conditional fine amounting to several thousands of francs, the migration authority then ordering them to leave the country forthwith. Furthermore, they have been banned from returning to Switzerland or entering any state within the Schengen area for three years.
