The first frozen pond
The Läschweiher pond on Zugerberg has a stable layer of ice. The rest of the lakes and ponds in the canton remain closed to the public.
Police experts did tests on Monday to check the ice surfaces on the lakes and ponds in canton Zug. The “Löschweiher” pond on Zugerberg has a thick enough layer of ice now to allow it to be released to the public. It will be released at 8 o’clock Tuesday morning (January 6, 2009) in arrangement with the municipal authorities.
The remaining waters in the canton do not have thick enough ice and should not be walked on, according to the Police. They ask that people obey the signs and not venture out on the ice. The next ice bulletin will be released if there is a change in circumstances.
