Store detective spots shoplifter

A store detective on patrol at its city-centre premises spotted a shoplifter last Wednesday. Now the thief has been fined and deported.

The detective noticed how the woman, who turned out to be a national of Bosnia-Herzegovina, stole items of food, jewellery, cosmetics and clothes amounting to the value of CHF 380. She was then detained by the detective until the police arrived.

As police spokesman Frank Kleiner explained, when questioned, the 28-year-old admitted having stolen the goods and was taken forthwith to appear before a judge, who, in fast-track proceedings, imposed a conditional fine on her, the migration authorities subsequently ordering her to leave the country.
