Roche Diagnostics International remains largest employer in the canton
With 2,950 employees, the Roche Diagnostics International AG company of Rotkreuz remains the largest employer in the canton, followed by Siemens (Switzerland) Building Technologies in the city of Zug with a staff of 2,418.
By coincidence, in a separate list showing the number of people working in public service, i.e. in cantonal administration, this figure of 2,418 is the same.
With 1,922 employees, the Zug Metall AG company, which makes household appliances under the V-Zug label for example, is the third largest employer in the canton.
Although its headquarters are in Ebikon, the Migros Cooperative of Lucerne is the fourth largest employer, with a payroll of 1,404 in the canton of Zug.
With a staff of 1061, the Cantonal Hospital in Baar actually employs 56 more people than Glencore International in the canton, though of course worldwide the latter employs 146,000.
Seventh on the list is Johnson&Johnson, who employ 950 in Zug, but 134,000 in all.
In eighth place comes the Zuwebe company on Baar, with 950 people working in the area of social services and care, followed by the GGZ charity, for whom 817 people work, helping people “between jobs”.
Tenth on the list is the Zuger Kantonalbank with a staff of 788 in the canton and 447 elsewhere.
Returning to the list of those working in public service, Neuheim employs the fewest, just 74, though it is the smallest municipality, with just 2,239 inhabitants.
