Pseudo-Universities and false titles

In Lucerne, politicians want to put a stop to pseudo-universities in the canton. The Zuger want to wait and see.

The SVP and the Greens (political parties) in the Lucerne parliament are demanding tougher protection of titles and are calling for a fight against the misuse of titles and pseudo-universities. In canton Zug it is not a topic of discussion, at least not on the cantonal level. “That won’t pay off” says the Director of Education Patrick Cotti, “because right now they are working at federal level to introduce new laws which would bring stronger title protection and stricter accreditation requirements and universities would be regulated. There is no reason to go at it alone”.  

In canton Zug there are two private institutes offering titles (for example a Dr. or Prof. title) for a lot of money.
