Police from three cantons involved in search for man missing in lake

A major search for a man missing in Lake Zug took place over many hours on Thursday. It is thought he fell from a rowing boat.

The police were first alerted to the fact a man was missing in the lake at around 10.30 am. Apparently, he had fallen from a sports rowing boat some 200 metres from the lake shore.

In addition to local police, the lake rescue services of the Zug Voluntary Fire Brigade were also involved, as was a diving unit of the Schwyz police force. Furthermore, a helicopter from Zurich was also brought in.

As to how the man fell is not sure; it is thought he may have been suffering from a medical problem.
