Objection to Maihölzli development withdrawn

Following the withdrawal of an objection to the Maihölzli development in the centre of the municipality, it is now hoped construction could start as early as 2020.

Locals gave their consent to this development in a referendum in September of last year but since this time an objection has prevented it from going ahead.

According to Thomas Anderegg, the head of planning in the municipality, talks have been going on between them and those who raised the objections, resulting in a “much-promising, future-oriented solution”, which has brought much relief to those involved, not least to the prime contractors, the Jego AG company.

The site for this Maihölzli development includes the area between Chamerstrasse and the Maihölzli woodland area to the east. A retailer is expected to move into part of the complex directly opposite the townhall, with further commercial and residential accommodation extending to the east and the south.
