No skiing without a helmet!

A tragic ski accident in Austria on New Year’s Day left one person dead and a well-known politician injured.  Beat Villiger, a well-known Olympian physician does not see a reason why people shouldn’t wear a helmet when skiing. He demands that wearing a helmet when skiing should be mandatory. Whereby a helmet wouldn’t prevent a brain concussion, it would prevent head fractures. The Suva welcomes the idea of people wearing a helmet when skiing, says Erich Wiederkehr of Suva, but doesn’t think it should be mandatory. Meanwhile over the holidays thousands of winter sports enthusiasts flocked to the ski areas of central Switzerland. On New Year’s Day, for example, Klewenalp, Sörenberg and Lungern Schönbüel all reported record numbers.
