New heads of Cantonal Office of Forestry and Wildlife appointed

The cantonal government has announced it has appointed Priska Müller, 35, and and Martin Ziegler, 42, as joint heads of the Office of Forestry and Wildlife in a job-sharing arrangement.

Both Müller and Ziegler have been in senior positions at the office for some time, the former having been responsible for fishery and hunting since 2012, with Ziegler in charge of woodland protection, bio-diversity and natural hazards.

They will take on their new responsibilities at the end of July next year on the occasion of the retirement of the present incumbent in the role, Albin Schmidhauser, his successors intending to carry on with the well-tried-and-tested policies practised hitherto.

Priska Müller holds a degree in environmental science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, (ETH) in Zurich and brings great experience with her in the areas of wildlife management, hunting and fishery. Ziegler is a qualified forester with great knowledge in the afore-mentioned areas he is to become responsible for. Both have qualifications in leadership and management, too.
