Make sure you can be seen on your way to and from school or work

The Zug police strongly recommend drivers check their lights work before setting off on these dark mornings.

In a joint operation with the TCS motorists’ organisation, the police carried out spot checks on vehicle lights between 4.30 pm and 8 pm on two recent Thursdays on Sinserstrasse in Hagendorn and Sihlbruggstrasse in Baar. Of the 67 vehicles checked, 50 had a lighting defect of one kind or another. Fortunately, thanks to the TCS, in 40 cases, the situation was able to be put right there and then. It was also mentioned that, overall, the vehicles were in a good condition.

The police pointed out that the risk of a road traffic accident is three times higher at dawn and dusk, hence this warning for motorists to check their lights before setting off. Motorists are also reminded to drive with dipped headlights in fog and when it is raining or snowing.

They further advise pedestrians and cyclists to wear bright clothing with reflection strips to ensure they can be seen more clearly.
