Lorry gets stuck under low bridge
A lorry driver failed to recognise that the height of a bridge was too low for his vehicle and he duly crashed into it.
The incident occurred at the railway bridge over Gotthardstrasse on Thursday afternoon. It seems the driver failed to notice the height restriction of 3.2 metres until the rear part of his vehicle collided with the bridge. Fortunately, he escaped injury but, as can be seen in the photographs, his vehicle was badly damaged, the roof completely ripped off. It has since been removed and the street able to be re-opened.
As to whether the bridge suffered any significant damage, this still has to be ascertained, as police spokesman Frank Kleiner explained.
The 35-year-old driver now expect to be charged for his offences.
