Kurdish man deported

A Kurdish group wanted to prevent their countryman Mehmet Telli from being deported. They gathered 400 signatures for a petition and were too late.

The support was too late. Mehmet Telli was already sitting in an airplane. The Kurdish poet and author, who has lived in Switzerland for six years, was deported.

The 60 year old was arrested in December while being treated at the hospital. His deportation deadline had expired. During his detainment in prison he began a hunger strike, which he continued for 30 days. His countrymen are not only concerned about his hunger strike, they also fear he will suffer repression in Turkey.
