Korporation Zug to sell prime property in Walchwil

A piece of land in the best area of  Walchwil is to change owners. Families will profit. In Zug.

Express:

 • The 1081 square meters may be resold only if built on.

• Thus the Korporation wants to prevent land speculation.

The Korporation Zug owns the piece of property in the so-called “Chellen” area of Walchwil.  Some of the land, i.e. 1081 square meters, is zoned W 1 (apartment zone) since the last zone planning  revision. The remaining part of the plot is forest and/or agriculture land. The land is accessible by the Forchwaldstrasse, writes the board of directors of the Korporation Zug.

“A block of buildings makes sense”

The Korporation Zug would like to sell the 1081 square meters of development land. After various negotiations they decided to sell the property for 1.66 million francs to the highest bidder, Rebmatt AG in Zug. The Korporation executive already informed it’s members in June 2008 about the intention to sell the land and it was published in the Amtsblatt, the official Zug weekly publication.

“Once the area below the Forchwaldstrasse was built up a few years ago, constructing on part of the land makes sense", writes the Korporation executive.  "Experience shows that there is high demand for housing in this area”  In order to prevent land speculation, the land was sold with the stipulation that it could not be resold unless it was built upon.

Members must still approve the action

The Korporation Zug themselves did not want to construct on the site, said Daniel Schwezmann.  “That is not our housing construction strategy. We prefer to invest in reasonably-priced family housing”.  In that sense, the completion of the Herti 6 is a priority.  “And so the money from the property sale indirectly aides the construction of family housing” said Schwerzmann.

The Korporations members must still approve the sale.  Note: Next Korporations meeting is: Monday, 19 January, 20 o'clock, in the castle brook hall in Zug.
