Ice Hockey

A third for history

Due to a sensational start with four goals in the first 12 minutes, the EVZ won also their second game in 2009. Corsin Casutt made his first “hat trick”.

“It is beautiful, if one wins in such a way.” said Corsin Casutt .After the 4:2 against Ambri, the Zuger hockey team also defeated the second Tessiner club on the first weekend of the new year: With one of the best achievements of the season they humiliated Lugano 7: 4. It was already the fourth Zuger win in the fifth game against Lugano and it stirs hope that the Zuger will make it to the Playoffs. 14 more games before the end of the qualification period, with the Fribourg team (8th Place) five points ahead of Zug.

The fourth block made four goals, which made the big difference in Lugano. Casutt alone made three goals by the 33rd minute in the game and also made the  assist which led to the 2.0.

Casutt: Four shots, three goals
The Zug team played like one homogeneous unit. Their defensive stood firm and there were hardly any blackouts in front of the Zuger goal. What did come through, goalie Lars Weibel was able to take care of in the same sovereign way as against Ambri.

Also the team’s offensive playing was outstanding, the goal firing statistics demonstrate the impressive Zuger efficiency: 40:29 for Lugano. Casutt, for example, shot four times at the goal, three times with success. “It is beautiful, if one wins in such a way”, explained Corsin Casutt . “Everyone fought for everyone, we did a lot of checking. When we got the puck, we took off with it at the speed of lightening.”

The young block plays already for some time on a high level. They fulfil their defensive tasks reliably and are a danger near the goal: “We have so much fun together”, says Casutt. His contract runs out at end of season, and of course sport boss Patrick Lengwiler hopes that “Casutt remains with us".
