Front wheel comes off and hits another car

A wheel came off the front of a car being driven over the bridge over the ravine through which the River Lorze flows (Lorzentobelbrücke) on Saturday.

The incident happened shortly before 11pm as the woman was proceeding from the cantonal road towards the Aegeri Valley. Suddenly, the front left-hand wheel came off and rolled onto the left side of the road and crashed into an approaching vehicle.

Fortunately, no-one was injured but considerable damage was caused to both cars. The 40-year-old driver of the car which lost a wheel said her vehicle had been taken to a garage two weeks earlier and since this time she had noticed a strange noise coming from the front left axle but nevertheless she had carried on driving.
