From the driving test to the radar
They just got their driving license and it’s already been revoked: the car race between two 18 year olds ends in front of the judge.
Express:
- Two 18 year olds race through a 50-Zone on Friday
- Both just got their driving license: One only had his drivers license for a couple of hours.
„Both behaved very reckless. That was a foolish game".
Roger Stoll, Fahrlehrerverband Zug
Unbelievable but true: An 18-year old Swiss caught driving 108 kilometres per hour in a 50 kph zone. It was 10 p.m. Friday evening on the Chamerstrasse that a mobile radar control registered the speeder. The young man from Steinhausen had just gotten his drivers license a few hours beforehand.
Second driver
Directly behind him drove an 18 year old Kosovar resident of canton Zug, caught driving 85 km/h instead of the allowed 50 km/h, despite abruptly braking beforehand. He, too, is a new driver, having just gotten his provisional driver’s license in November 2008. “Both lost their driver’s license” said Marcel Schlatter, from the Zuger police. The two racing incidents will be investigated by the public prosecutors office.
The two vehicles, an Audi A4 and a VW Touran were confiscated – relatives of the two racers were allowed to drive the vehicles home. According to Schlatter, the cars were not registered in the names of the young men.
New Drivers are otherwise sensible
“The two behaved absolutely reckless. That was a foolish game” criticised Roger Stoll, President of the Zug section of the Swiss Driving Teachers Association.
One must not lump all new drivers together, warns Stoll, because the majority of new drivers behave correctly.
