Fire in Baar
For unknown reasons a fire broke out in a room in a house in Baar on Wednesday evening. Six persons had to look for alternative lodging for the night.
Shortly after 8 p.m. a resident in the house on the Dorfstrasse 5a noticed that smoke was coming out of a room on the second story and called the emergency fire department number 118. According to the Zuger police, at the same time another resident tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. At that time the flames were already out the window.
The fire brigade Baar was able to bring the room fire under control before the fire had a chance to spread to other rooms. Just the same, the adjoining buildings, Dorfstrasse 5 and 7, had to be evacuated.
Smoke makes house uninhabitable
At the time of the fire outbreak six persons were in the building. They were all able to escape the fire uninjured and were cared for by the fire brigade. Due to smoke damage the building became uninhabitable. The city of Baar put four of the residents in a hotel, two others arranged for lodging for the night independently. The cause of the fire is unknown and being investigated by the criminal / technical investigators of the Zuger police. 60 members of the Baar fire department, the emergency service of canton Zug as well as specialists from the Zuger police were called to the fire.
