Distinctive high-rise planned

The Swiss Federation of Fruit Growers wants to build a high-rise on the Baarerstrasse with offices and many apartments. But will people want to live there?

If builder Bruno Pezzati has his way, then the answer is yes. “The goal is to start construction in 2011”. With an estimated construction period of 18 months, the high-rise should be ready for people to move in in 2013.  However, the architects, Wiederkehr and Krummenacher from Zug and Deon AG from Lucerne are a bit more cautious.

George Krummenacher: “The past teaches us that there are always and again set-backs with building constructions. Right now before we work out the high-rise concept we can not estimate when we will be able to continue with the planning”. You have to expect everything.

Planned are primarily apartments on the nine higher floors. The apartments would be of various sizes (from 2 ½ to 4 1/2 ) and moderately priced. Offices are planned for the lower floors. At ground level it is conceivable that there would be a restaurant or coffee shop.
