24-year-old knife-wielding man arrested

A 24-year-old man was detained by police and subsequently taken to a psychiatric clinic after he threatened a number of passers-by with a knife on Sunday afternoon.

It was between 2.00 pm and 2.30 pm that afternoon that police were alerted to an incident near Lindencham station when a woman cyclist was approached by the man wielding a knife. The sudden shock and threat she felt led her to fall off her bike and sustain slight injuries.

Not long later a man and a woman were threatened by the same man on Oberneufeldstrasse in Baar.

Thanks to the detailed description they were able to give, the police were able to arrest the man, a Swiss national, not long afterwards at Baar station. As mentioned, he was subsequently referred to a psychiatric clinic.

The police have since said they would like to hear from anyone else who may have been threatened by the man that day.
