Eight-year-old girl hit by car on crossing

An eight-year-old girl suffered slight injuries when she was hit by a car while crossing a road in the municipality on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly before 4.30 pm as the girl made her way over a crossing on Zugerstrasse, near the Rössli restaurant in the Neuaegeri area, when she was hit by a car driven by a 75-year-old man who had failed to notice her in time. She was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

The police again appealed to pedestrians and cyclists to wear bright clothing or reflective bands to make sure they can be seen. Cyclists and drivers were also reminded to check their lights before setting off and car drivers further reminded they should only use fog lights when driving through fog or driving rain and snow.
