Drug dealers arrested

Officers of the Zug police have been successful in foiling drug dealing on three separate occasions of late.

Firstly, police noticed how drugs were being handed over shortly after noon on Wednesday 28 March on Dammstrasse in the city. When they intervened, a Swiss 39-year-old national was found to have been in possession of cocaine and a 37-year-old Afghan national in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash. Additional amounts of cocaine were found in the latter’s car and his flat. When further questioned, he admitted to having been dealing in drugs and taking cocaine himself. He has since been fined and given a 180-day suspended prison sentence.

In a subsequent incident on the evening of Thursday 19 April, 25 grammes of freshly packed marihuana were found on a 47-year-old German national after he was searched by officers in plain clothing. When his house was searched, officers came across a further 100 grammes of marihuana and traces of cocaine. He also admitted to having dealt in drugs and consuming them himself and can now expect to be charged for his offences.

In a more recent incident last Tuesday afternoon, police officers, again in plain clothing, noticed how drugs were being handed over by a man, who turned out to be a 27-year-old Serbian national, to a woman of undisclosed nationality on Oberdorfstrasse in Baar.  A subsequent search of the man’s car led to police finding 200 grammes of cocaine. He was duly arrested but has since been released and can now expect to face charges for his offences.
