Driver of transporter which lost part of its load on motorway fails to stop

The driver of a transporter which shed part of its load on the A14 motorway between Zug and Lucerne on Friday simply drove on without stopping.

The Zug police were alerted to the incident at around 9.15 pm that evening by members of the public after benches came off the transporter on a section of the motorway between the Rütihof interchange and Gisikon, causing it to be strewn with pieces of wood and metal. A large number of vehicles following the transporter were not able to avoid the debris it left behind but fortunately no-one was injured.

The incident led to the motorway having to be closed for some time while the mess was cleared up.

The police have since issued an appeal for the driver of the transporter to report to them. In addition, they have asked for anyone else who witnessed the incident to call them on 041 728 41 41 without delay.
