Another senior employee of Sika takes up appointment

It was only last year that Jan Jenisch, the former CEO of the specialist chemicals manufacturer Sika of Baar, was appointed CEO of the Lafarge-Holcim cement manufacturing company. Since this time he has lured a number of Sika managers to work at his new company, including Miljan Gutovic (second photograph), who initially became head of marketing and innovation there. Now it has been reported that the 39-year-old is to become head of sales to the Near East and Africa in addition to being a member of the board of Lafarge-Holcim, this after having been head of the Middle East sales under Jenisch at Sika.

In his new role, Gutovic, an Australian national with 13 years’ experience in the building materials industry, will be taking over from Saad Sebbar, a Moroccan-French national who decided to leave the cement manufacturing company, though, according to reports in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, it appears he was asked to leave, not least on account of falling sales and the investigation of the French subsidiary company, Lafarge, by the French authorities, in connection with the possible financing of acts of terror through activities at the Jalabiya cement works in Syria.

Regular readers will recall that it was only in May that Lafarge-Holcim announced it would be moving its headquarters from Zurich to Zug.
