78 vehicles and 126 occupants checked

In a joint operation involving the police forces of both Zug and Schwyz, a night- time road checkpoint was set up on the A4 motorway near Küssnacht am Rigi.

Units of road traffic and criminal police assisted by border guards and a unit of the Civil Defence Corps of the canton of Zug were involved in the checkpoint which began at 10.30 pm on Wednesday and continued until 3 am.

In all, checks were made on 66 cars, ten vans, three motorcycles and 126 individuals. Eight people were fined on account of road traffic offences and three more face charges. Eight drivers were ordered to put right defects on their vehicles and in two cases drivers face proceedings for contravening the Narcotics Act. One vehicle was confiscated after it was found the 43-year-old driver had no valid licence, and not for the first time.
