Youngster realises dream of running own business

Stefan Wollenmann always had a dream of running his own business. Now, with the support of his parents, he has set up his own electrical business in Menzingen.

Wollenmann never thought he would have his own shop by the age of 21, yet he has done just that by opening the Wollenmann Multimedia shop in the main street. It was earlier this year when Wollenmann was looking out for possible premises, though more out of curiosity than serious intention and came across the shop in the village centre. "I drew up a list of all the pros and cons and discussed it with my parents. Finally they gave me their blessing - and some financial support to start the business."

It was only this summer that Wollenmann completed his electrical apprenticeship at AV Weibel and he noticed how many customers said they would like to have a multimedia shop in the village. "So far everything is going well, but I know it is a bit early to say after only two months."

As he wanted to be totally open about his plans, he informed his previous employer, AV Weibel and Rolf Valentin of the other electrical shop in the village. "I also had a leaflet delivered to everyone in Menzingen telling them about my plans as I did not want to upset anyone. Fortunately there is enough work for all three electricians in the area."
