World's biggest brewer sets up company in canton

The world’s biggest brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev, has invested CHF 30 million to set up a GmbH limited liability company in Steinhausen, from where it will operate its global sales.

The news of this move came in an article published in the Handelszeitung economic journal, with the company itself confirming that most of its top management dealing in the area of global sales has been based in Zug since April and that this sector of its business would indeed be controlled from one location.

So far, some hundred employees of the brewer, which makes Budweiser, for example, work in Zug; these are staff of the SAB Miller company which Anheuser Busch InBev recently took over. As to how many of the 700 staff of the global AB Procurement division would be working from Steinhausen remains unclear. The move is to take place in stages starting from the end of summer, with management considering further steps until the end of the year.

The company currently co-ordinates the procurement of the raw materials and brewing equipment it needs from its headquarters in Leuven in Belgium.
