Woman walks into path of lorry
A woman walking with a child was hit by a lorry in Cham and knocked to the ground on Monday.
Apparently the woman had not seen the lorry as she stepped out into the road shortly after 8.30 am on Monday morning. The 29-year-old had intended to cross the road not far from the Städtli school in Cham's Johannistrasse with her five-year-old child, though without using the zebra crossing. The 30-year-old lorry-driver was not able to stop in time and hit the woman on her leg with his front wheel.
The victim was knocked to the ground and sustained serious leg injuries and subsequently taken to hospital, who later confirmed that she had sustained serious leg injuries. Fortunately her child escaped unhurt.
According to Marcel Schlatter, spokesman for the cantonal police, there was no indication that the lorry-driver was travelling too fast.
