Two women escape with slight injuries

Two women had to taken to hospital for treatment to slight injuries they sustained in an accident involving five cars on the A4 motorway near Cham on Monday evening.

It was shortly after 7 pm that an 18-year-old woman lost control over her vehicle as she approached the northbound carriageways from the Cham access road, resulting in her colliding with a car driven by a 27-year-old woman. Unfortunately, a car already on the motorway was unable to brake in time, causing it to crash into the car driven by the 27-year-old, too. As a result of the accident, part of the crash barrier on the central reservation was hurtled onto the lanes on the opposite side of the motorway, causing two vehicles travelling in the Lucerne direction to be damaged

Two women, the 27-year-old and a 66- year-old, sustained slight injuries and were taken to hospital, as mentioned. All other people involved, including the 18-year-old woman driver, escaped injury.

Damage to vehicles and the crash barrier was estimated to be in the region of CHF 30,000.

As a result of the incident, the motorway between the access and exit roads had to be closed for two hours, traffic duly having to go on a detour via Lindencham.

While attending the incident, police noticed one driver taking photographs of the scene as he drove by; he can now expect to be fined accordingly.
