Two separate accidents result in two people injured, much damage and delays

Two accidents on the A2 and A14 motorways early on Wednesday morning led to two people sustaining slight injuries, considerable damage and delays to commuters.

The first accident occurred on the A14 shortly after 6.30 am as one car travelling in the Zurich direction drove into the back of another between Gisikon and the Rütihof interchange, resulting in two people, aged 32 and 38, having to be taken to hospital for treatment. Damage in the accident was considerable, amounting to several tens of thousands of francs. What is more, the left-hand lane of the motorway had to be closed for one hour as the police examined the precise circumstances of the incident and the vehicles were recovered.

Not unsurprisingly, the accident led to much congestion particularly in the Gisikon-Root area, where congestion built up between there and the Rotsee interchange, and for traffic heading towards Bremgarten on the main road to Inwil. As if this were not enough, commuters on the main road between Gisikon-Root and Dierikon as well as those heading towards Emmenbrücke on the main road between Ballwil and Eschenbach were also subject to delays.

As a result of a second accident, which took place on the A2 between Rothenburg and the Rotsee interchange, travellers in the direction of Lucerne were subject to delays between this interchange and Emmen North.
