Two new members of senior management team appointed at Cantonal School

Two teachers, Thomas Unternährer and Christian Steiger, are to become members of the senior management team at the Cantonal School with effect from August 2015. They will be taking over different areas of responsibility as the current rector, Hans Peter Gnos, prepares to retire at the end of this academic year.

Gnos (second photograph) has been rector at the school for 12 years and also taught visual arts and design. He was praised by Stephan Schleiss, the cantonal director of education, for the great commitment and professionalism he has shown as head of the middle school during this time.

His job will be taken over by Unternährer, 43 (on the left in the main photograph), a graduate in French and religious history of the University of Fribourg in French-speaking Switzerland. He subsequently went on to qualify to teach children of secondary school age. He has actually already been teaching French and acting as form master at the Cantonal School for 13 years.

Steiger, 55 (on the right in the main photograph), will be taking over responsibility for quality and development at the school. He studied geography and economics before going on to take a certificate in education in teaching children of secondary school age. He also holds a doctorate from the University of Zurich. Like Unternährer, Steiger has also been teaching at the Cantonal School for some years, since 1998 in fact.
