Two escape with slight injuries after collision at roundabout

A young driver who failed to give way to another vehicle was slightly injured, along with his passenger, in an incident at a roundabout in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 20-year-old driver, who was still on probation having not long passed his test, failed to give way to another vehicle which was already on the Eberstwilerstrasse- Sihlbruggstrasse roundabout in Baar at 1.30 am on Sunday. This led to a collision between the two cars, the young driver then going on to crash into an advertising hoarding and fountain of nearby furniture store. Fortunately, the 23-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved was not injured.

Damage to both vehicles amounted to CHF 10,000. As to the amount of damage caused to the business premises, this has not yet been assessed.

The young driver had his licence confiscated on the spot and he can now expect to be charged for his offence.
